The Jewish Sabbath begins slightly before sunset on Friday and ends after sundown on Saturday, every week. On this day we may not work, use the car, nor electronic devices -- so we do have to be home before the Sabbath starts. We may of course leave the house on this day, we just do it the old fashioned way, with our feet, walking to Synagogue, taking a walk to a park etc.

Leaving Early on Fridays for the Jewish Religion
Can you please verify that in the Jewish Religion you have to be in the house every Friday before sundown and if this is year round?
The Jewish calendar date begins at sundown of the night beforehand. Thus all holidays observances begin the night before the dates listed. The exception to this rule is fast days, which begin at dawn of the date shown below (aside for Tisha b'Av and Yom Kippur which also begin the night before). Jewish calendar dates conclude at nightfall.
